Field of dreams
(750×800) Mixed media on canvas
In this painting I tried to capture the vast open spaces of the Free State veld, which is literally in my dreams most nights…. I can feel of the warm dry air and hear the grass crunching under my feet. This is where is was brought up and even though the house is but a ruin it still where I go in my dreams. I believe this is where my roots are and even thought I now live on a small island in the South Pacific it will always be my soul’s home - sunny and quiet. I miss it
I used a combination of acrylic paint, ink, soft and dry pastels to do the grass…my music was playing and the repetitive movement and mark making had me almost in a trance and really did take me back - So enjoyed this “painting”
